We are carrying out a study to explore possible opportunities of job creation, livelihoods for farmers in farming of Medicinal and Aromatic plants; and also ways to enhance export of these items. Our team visited the farms of Maa Danteshwari Herbal Group in Bastar, Madhya Pradesh. Dr Rajaram Tripathi, founder of Maa Danteshwari Group and his team took us through their farms, how they practice organic farming and grow herbs. They briefed our team on how vertical farming of black pepper helps farmers earn a very good income and how they have trained farmers from different states in similar practices.
Gram Sabha Kambur Panchayat, Madurai: Emerging Grassroots Leadership - RGICS studied the phenomenon of grass roots mobilisation in Kambur village panchayat which has led to active participation of people in institutional mechanisms. Having information about their rights, people have started raising their issues in Gram Sabha meetings.
