Gram Gaurav Sansthan – Water Harvesting in Maharajapur village, Rajasthan

Gram Gaurav Sansthan, a grassroots development organization in Karauli, Rajasthan has -transformed many lives by supporting villagers in building structures of water conservation.
This is a story of Maharajpur village locate at the foothills of Aravallis. The villagers approached the Sansthan and sought support in building a Taal, a traditional water harvesting structure in their village.
The structure transformed the lives of villagers as they could now grow wheat, mustard and barley on their infertile lands. They could harvest enough rain water that helped them in irrigation, drinking water for themselves and also for their cattle. The farmers had enough yield which they started selling and regenerated their livelihoods. Livestock rearing also improved. Even, the farmers who used to work in mines for their livelihood started farming on their lands.
